ABOUT

Johannes Warnke is a multidisciplinary fashion designer and founded the namesake womenswear brand after his graduate collection from the BA Fashion Design Course at Central Saint Martins gained press and media attention. His RTW and sculptural dress collections are based on sensory perception and are signified by sustainable custom-dyed materials, structural draping, elaborate textile techniques and couture finishings. Warnke’s internship background in couture houses such as Viktor&Rolf, Givenchy, Balmain and bespoke tailors has influenced the technically complex garment constructions, whilst his fine art and dance education has inspired the dynamic and ambient play with colour and fluid draping.

The Johannes Warnke collections reflect socio-philosophical topics such as embodied perception and digitalisation, prioritising the sensory experience in our virtually connected world. The validation of physical connection and the environment is reflected in the usage of soft and eco-friendly, natural textiles such as cruelty-free silks, delicate TENCEL LUXEβ„’ fabrics and deadstock materials. Environmentally responsible processes such as natural dyeing, upcycling, minimum-waste pattern cutting and local production are crucial to the brands’ conscious DNA. These sustainable methods are embedded organically into the design language and enhance also the more performative sculptural work of Johannes Warnke.

Artists have worn and embraced Warnke’s dresses such as BjΓΆrk, Grimes, Rina Sawyama, Lady Gaga, Kylie Jenner, Post Malone, Griff, Lady Blackbird, Hebe Tien, Megan Thee Stallion and Raveena to name a few. Collections have been featured on the covers of Vogue China, Evening Standard and in multiple publications such as WWD, ID, Vogue, Harpers Bazar, L’Official, NumΓ©ro, Paper, Document Journal, Perfect, Wonderland and many more. Johannes Warnke’s collection WINDFARBE was presented during Paris Fashion Week 2022 at Dover Street Market curated by Perfect Magazine and Katie Grand. The debut RTW collection MURMELSPIEL was released in February 2023 on the DiscoveryLab London Fashion Week schedule.

His newest Avantgarde RTW collection MURMELSPIEL is produced in London, employing cruelty-free silks, delicate TENCELβ„’ fabrics and upcycled materials. The collection was exhibited in June 2023 at the Fashion Forward Vogue Germany event, as part of the Fashion East June Show and was showcased as part of the installation in the East Side Gallery Space at Selfridges between December 2023 and January 2024
