ABOUT

Johannes Warnke is a London-based sustainable womenswear brand specialising in modern eveningwear and avant-garde performance pieces, produced ethically and primarily as custom commissions. Rooted in the founder’s background in painting and contemporary dance, the collections explore movement, colour, and form through hand-dyed, fluid fabrics and cubist-curvaceous silhouettes. Each piece is crafted using low-waste techniques and eco-conscious materials such as botanical Tencel, cruelty-free silks, and deadstock fabric. Production is handled in-house and in collaboration with a refugee-led studio in Germany exploring natural hand-dyeing and innovative waterless dyeing. The brand offers a rental archive and made-to-order service, reducing overproduction.

Johannes Warnke has presented at Selfridges London’s Avantgarde Gallery, Dover Street Market Paris, Fabrica X, DiscoveryLAB at London Fashion Week, the Vogue Germany event in Munich, and as part of the Fashion East June Show in 2023. Warnke’s work has appeared in leading publications including Vogue, WWD, i-D, Perfect, Atmos, Harperβ€˜s Bazaar, Elle, NumΓ©ro, and Document Journal, and has been worn by artists such as BjΓΆrk, Grimes, Rina Sawayama, Post Malone, Lady Gaga, and Raveena.
